Darmstadt

Today has been the longest day of my life. I'm sitting here trying to figure out how long exactly but my brain is just not working. It's been well over 24 hours and thats all I can figure out. Germany is definitely different from America. First of all we couldn't figure out how to work our rental car (and we still haven't completely figured it out.) Apparently Germans are so into being eco-friendly that their cars shut off if you sit at a red light too long. That was a nice surprise when we were in the middle of a crowded road.
Second of all, the grocery store check out is a very hostile experience. You have to have your money ready, understand what in the world they're saying when they give the price, and bag your own groceries with the bags you have to remember to bring. This is all while moving as fast as possible so that the person behind you doesn't body slam you for backing up the line (they may just give you a mean look but who knows.)
